Ventilator Associated Pneumonia (VAP) is pneumonia occurring in a patientwithin 48 hours or more after intubation with an endotracheal tube ortracheostomy tube and which was not present before. It is also the mostcommon and fatal infection of ICU. Early onset VAP occurs within 48 hours andlate onset VAP beyond 48 hours of tracheal intubation. VAP increases length ofICU stay by 28% 3and each incidence of VAP results in manifold increase infinancial burden.Downloads
